Apple opened WWDC 2026 on Monday with the announcement of iOS 27, and this one is a different kind of upgrade. While iOS 26 brought the visual overhaul everyone was talking about with Liquid Glass, iOS 27 turns its attention inward, prioritizing performance improvements and a major push into artificial intelligence.
The headline feature is a fully rebuilt Siri, now powered by a custom Google Gemini model. Apple and Google announced that partnership on January 12, and the result is a Siri that arrives as its own standalone app, can take actions across your other apps, and draws on personal context from your Messages, Mail, and Photos to actually understand what you need.
Developers got their hands on the first beta the same day as the keynote, June 8, 2026. That build, numbered 24A5355q, is currently available to registered developers, with a stable public release to follow later in the year.
If you are not a developer, sitting out the beta is the smarter move for now. Early builds are built for testing, not daily use, and the features that make iOS 27 worth the excitement are the kind that need to be rock solid before you trust them with your messages and your photos.
