The Nigeria Labour Congress and the Nigeria Union of Teachers are pushing back hard against Abuja's minister, Nyesom Wike, after he directed area council chairpersons to enforce a no-work, no-pay policy against workers currently on strike.
Both the NLC and NUT are calling the directive unconstitutional and unenforceable, signaling that they have no intention of letting it stand without a fight.
With workers already on strike and the minister doubling down, the standoff between labour and the FCT administration is only getting sharper from here.
