Here is why Senegal's head coach Pape Thiaw was sacked by the Senegalese football association after the 2026 World Cup exit.
The Senegal Football Federation (FSF) has explained the decision to dismiss head coach Pape Thiaw following the Teranga Lions' disappointing campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Thiaw, who took charge of the national team in December 2024, oversaw a difficult tournament in which Senegal lost their opening two group-stage matches against France and Norway.
Although they responded with an emphatic 5-0 victory over Iraq to secure one of the best third-placed spots in the competition, their World Cup journey ended in heartbreaking fashion.
