Veekee James’ Sheer Beaded Bodice Leads Wine-Red Fashion at Zlatan Ibile’s Wedding | See Photos
Afrobeats star Zlatan Ibile, born Omoniyi Temidayo Raphael, and his partner Davita Omoniyi held their traditional wedding this week, drawing family, friends and a well-dressed crowd from the Nigerian entertainment industry. Among the guests was fashion designer Veekee James, who showed up in a look that could have stopped the ceremony if it wanted to.
She wore a floor-length, figure-hugging design from her own label in wine-red and champagne. The sheer corset bodice was lined with vertical rows of wine-red crystals, and a sweetheart-inspired neckline rose into a high embellished collar. The long sheer sleeves carried rows of burgundy beads, and the mermaid skirt swept downward in patterns of gold sequins, wine-red embroidery and dusty-rose detailing that trailed softly at the hem.
The gele was doing its own thing entirely. Veekee chose a tall, fan-pleated style in metallic champagne that added serious height and presence to an already commanding look. She kept her accessories focused: burgundy drop earrings, a structured gold woven box clutch and soft neutral makeup that let the colours of the outfit breathe.
It was a masterclass in being a wedding guest without upstaging the couple, though, honestly, it came very close.
