TVET applications hit 1.4m in two weeks as FG trains 250,000 Nigerians

Nearly 250,000 Nigerians are currently enrolled in technical and vocational skills training at over 1,200 accredited centres across the country, and the numbers keep climbing. Within just two weeks of opening, applications to the federal government's TVET programme crossed 1.4 million, a figure that says everything about how hungry young Nigerians are for practical, job-ready education.

The Technical and Vocational Education and Training initiative is part of a broader federal push to move skills development out of the shadows and into the mainstream. With more than 1,200 accredited centres already active nationwide, the infrastructure is clearly there. The question now is whether the momentum holds.

1.4 million applications in fourteen days is not a small thing. It points to a generation that is done waiting for the traditional university route to deliver and is ready to build careers with their hands, their craft, and their technical know-how. Watch this space.
