Twenty years is a long time to stay relevant in fashion, and Lanre Da Silva Ajayi has done exactly that. On November 16th in Lagos, the celebrated designer unveils her Spring/Summer 2026 line, titled "The Anniversary Collection," marking two decades since her 2005 debut with a showcase that is equal parts runway show and full cultural event.
The evening promises celebrities, models, and live performances from two surprise musical acts, with creative direction handled by Elizabeth Elohor, founder of Beth Model Management. It is the kind of production that signals LDA is not simply looking back but making a statement about where African fashion stands right now.
The collection itself leans into everything her loyal audience knows and loves: sculptural sleeves, flowing silhouettes, and obsessive attention to detail. Traditional adire fabrics sit alongside Chantilly lace, and the colour palette reads like a mood board for the milestone itself. Emerald green for growth, gold for triumph, and sunlit yellow for joy.
Beyond the runway, LDA is relaunching her Runway Renaissance mentorship programme, bringing three emerging designers into the fold. The focus this time is sustainability and craftsmanship, two conversations that are reshaping the future of African fashion.
In her own words, she describes clothes as "silent witnesses to who we are and who we're becoming." After twenty years of dressing women across the continent and beyond, it is hard to argue with her.
