The High Court in Kigali made its position clear on Tuesday, June 16: Victoire Umuhoza Ingabire will stand trial, and there is no more room for delay. The court dismissed objections Ingabire had raised just the day before, on Monday, in which she argued she was not ready to face charges related to forming a criminal organisation.
The ruling orders the trial to proceed, closing the door on the preliminary challenge Ingabire brought before the bench. The High Court's decision moves one of Rwanda's more closely watched cases into its next phase.
