N38.93 billion has landed in the accounts of 166 tertiary institutions across Nigeria, as the federal government moves to breathe new life into campuses that have long cried out for better funding and facilities.
The disbursement falls under the Needs Assessment Revitalisation Fund, a programme designed to address the infrastructure and resource gaps that have plagued higher education for years. The money reaches three categories of schools: 79 universities, 46 polytechnics, and 41 colleges of education.
For students and faculty who have watched laboratories go unequipped and lecture halls crumble, the real question now is how quickly the funds translate into change on the ground.
