Nigeria: Military Plane Crash - Traditional Ruler Cries Out As Decaying Bodies 'Pollute' Community's Source of Drinking Water

A traditional ruler in Nigeria is raising urgent alarms after a military plane crashed into the river that supplies his community's drinking water. The bodies of those killed in the crash are decomposing in the water, and residents say the contamination is a direct threat to their survival.

The ruler explained that a water treatment facility located at Aboto, about seven kilometres from the crash site, draws from that same river. When the treated water does come through, which is not every day, it is pumped from the very source now polluted by the wreckage and remains.

For a community already dealing with irregular water supply, this crash has turned a daily struggle into a crisis. The question now is what authorities plan to do about it, and how quickly.
