Atiku Abubakar is not stepping back. The former vice president has declared his intention to appeal the Federal High Court judgement that invalidated his presidential nomination, refusing to let the ruling stand without a fight.
His campaign council is moving on two fronts at once. Alongside the appeal, the team says it will seek interim relief, essentially asking for a stay of execution while the case works its way through the courts. The council has also come out swinging against the legal basis of the ruling itself, disputing the grounds on which the judge made the decision.
For now, Atiku remains in the race in his own telling. Whether the courts agree is the question everyone is waiting on.
