NFF announces an interim head coach for the Super Falcons

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has appointed Augustine Eguavoen as the interim head coach of the Super Falcons ahead of their upcoming 2028 Olympic Games qualifying campaign.

The former Super Eagles coach will take temporary charge of the nine-time African champions as the NFF continues its search for a substantive coach. His appointment comes at an important stage for the women’s national team as Nigeria prepares for the next phase of Olympic qualification.

Eguavoen’s first major assignment will be Nigeria’s second-round Olympic qualifying tie against Comoros. The two-legged fixture is scheduled to take place at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne-Remo on October 9 and October 13, 2026.

The experienced coach will be supported by Christopher Danjuma, head coach of Nasarawa Amazons, while Olatunji Baruwa will serve as goalkeeper trainer. Former Super Falcons defender Ayisat Yusuf has also been added to the technical team as an assistant coach.
