New Alamein: Egypt builds a new Mediterranean powerhouse

In June, some of Africa's most influential political and business leaders will gather on Egypt's Mediterranean coast for the inaugural Alamein Africa Forum - a major new platform designed to bring together heads of state, investors, policymakers, and corporate executives to discuss Africa's economic future.

Designed as Africa's premier business forum, the event will run alongside major continental gatherings, including the African Export-Import Bank's Annual Meetings, and aims to position New Alamein as a centre of African commerce, diplomacy, and investment.

The choice of location is no accident. On Egypt's northern Mediterranean coast, a new skyline has emerged at remarkable speed. Glass towers now rise above beaches that, until recently, were largely undeveloped stretches of coastline. Universities, conference centres, industrial zones, and residential complexes - both social housing and luxury apartments - are rapidly taking shape.

The project is New Alamein - one of Egypt's flagship fourth-generation cities - and officials increasingly believe it can become a strategic Mediterranean gateway connecting Africa, the Gulf, and Europe.
