Rabiu Kwankwaso stood before a crowd of party supporters at the 360 Event Centre in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital, on Saturday, and did something politicians rarely do: he spoke openly about regret over the 2023 elections.
The former governor and presidential candidate addressed the gathering without holding back, acknowledging that the election cycle left him with something to reflect on. The details of exactly what he said remain thin, but the fact that he chose Dutse, in the heart of his political base, to say it speaks volumes.
What he plans to do with that regret is the question his supporters will be sitting with now.
