Meet the African Queens Representing the Continent at Miss Universe 2025

Africa is walking into Bangkok with her head held high. The 74th Miss Universe Competition is underway in Thailand's capital, bringing together women from 130 countries under the theme "The Power of Love." And as national costumes, evening looks, and interviews roll out on the global stage, the continent's representatives are making every moment count.

This year's African lineup spans from Angola to Nigeria to Zimbabwe, and the women behind the sashes are as accomplished as they are striking. They come from geology labs, media studios, and community development work. Each one is carrying something real from home, not just a flag, but a story.

Two names already drawing attention are Maria and Lillian. Maria is studying International Relations and runs a platform called Mwiji Wami, which creates inclusion and opportunity for young women with hearing disabilities. She credits her large, close-knit family for the empathy and sense of community responsibility she leads with today.

Lillian brings a different kind of depth to the competition. A geologist by training, she is also a vocal advocate for mental well-being and inclusive empowerment through education. Her journey has been shaped by adversity, and she speaks openly about how purpose can grow out of life's hardest seasons.

The interviews and rehearsals are still unfolding, and the full pageant has yet to crown its winner. But Africa's women are already in the room, and they are not easy to overlook.
