M.anifest gave Accra the first taste of ROAD RAGE before the internet even knew it existed. He previewed the track at his Nowhere Cool at 10 anniversary concert, a live celebration marking a decade since his 2016 album Nowhere Cool. The night was already packed with talent, Worlasi, Samini, Kwabena Kwabena, Ko-Jo Cue and Cina Soul all took the stage, and then he dropped this. The official release announcement came the following day on X.
The song is out now through Mass Appeal and Singitdamnit Music, and it does exactly what a good collaboration should. M.anifest brings the sharp, measured lyricism he has been building across a long career in Ghanaian hip-hop, while Black Sherif comes in with that emotionally raw delivery his fans know well. Together they use a road trip as a stand-in for the bigger journey, ambition, drive, the obstacles that try to slow you down.
For Black Sherif, this is another strong moment in a stretch that has been anything but quiet. He announced himself to the continent in March 2022 with Kwaku the Traveller, which hit number one in both Ghana and Nigeria, and he has stayed visible since. Sharing a record with a veteran like M.anifest says something about where he stands in the culture right now.
Two generations, one song, and a whole lot of road ahead.
