Liberia: NPHIL Says No Ebola in Liberia

The National Public Health Institute of Liberia has a clear message for the country: there is no Ebola outbreak on Liberian soil. NPHIL delivered this assurance directly to lawmakers, moving quickly to calm any anxiety that may have been building following recent reports of an outbreak in Nigeria.

Even with that reassurance on the table, NPHIL is not sitting back. The institute is calling on public institutions across the country to install handwashing stations as a frontline preventive measure, signaling that vigilance remains the order of the day regardless of current case counts.

For Liberians, the mention of Ebola carries a particular weight, given the country's history with the disease. The question now is how seriously public institutions will take the call to act before any threat reaches the border.
