Betty Lamin Blamo walked into the Liberian Senate on Monday with a straightforward promise: no one gets prosecuted because of politics, and no one gets protected because of connections or money.
The Justice Minister-designate told senators that evidence, not influence, will be the standard that drives prosecutions under her watch. She was direct about what that means in practice: the government's opponents will not be targeted, and the government's allies will not be shielded.
It is a commitment Liberians have heard before from incoming officials, which is exactly why the words carry both weight and scrutiny right now. Whether Cllr. Blamo's tenure bears out that promise is the story worth watching.
