Kaduna to spend N34bn on Rigasa erosion crisis after three decades of neglect

More than two million people in and around Rigasa have waited three decades for the government to take their flooding and erosion crisis seriously. Now, Kaduna State is committing N34 billion to finally address it.

The project targets the Rigasa corridor, an area that has long dealt with severe erosion eating into homes, roads, and livelihoods with little meaningful intervention from authorities. Residents have watched the land give way season after season while waiting for relief that never came.

Once completed, the intervention is expected to directly benefit the more than two million people who live and work within the corridor and its surrounding communities. For a crisis three decades in the making, the real question now is how soon the work begins.
