Kaduna State has made history as the first state in Nigeria to domesticate the national Ward Development Committee guideline, according to the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA).
The Ward Development Committee framework is a national initiative designed to strengthen primary health care delivery at the grassroots level. By formally adopting and localising the guideline, Kaduna is taking the structure from policy into practice in a way no other state has done yet.
The NPHCDA's recognition of Kaduna's move signals that other states are watching, and the hope is that this becomes a blueprint others follow soon.
