The University of Calabar Teaching Hospital has given families a firm deadline of 21 October to come forward and claim unidentified bodies being held in its mortuary, some of which have been preserved for more than a decade.
The hospital says the planned mass burial is necessary to ease the growing pressure on its mortuary facilities, which have been holding the unclaimed remains for years.
Families who believe a loved one may be among the unidentified are being urged to act quickly before the deadline passes and the burial goes ahead.
