Goretti Kyomuhendo, Nzube Nlebedim, and Godfrey Mwampembwa Are the Fall 2026 Tejumola Olaniyan Creative Writers-in-Residence
Three African creatives are heading to Sharjah this autumn. Ugandan novelist Goretti Kyomuhendo, Nigerian essayist Nzube Nlebedim, and Tanzanian cartoonist Godfrey Mwampembwa, known professionally as Gado, have been named the Fall 2026 fellows of the Tejumola Olaniyan Creative Writers-in-Residence program at The Africa Institute.
The Africa Institute sits within Global Studies University in Sharjah, UAE, and the residency program carries the name of scholar Tejumola Olaniyan. This cohort brings together three distinct creative voices: long-form fiction, the personal essay, and editorial cartooning.
What this trio will make of their time in Sharjah is the question worth watching.
