Three people stepped out in London looking like they had a shared style brief and not a single person complained. Funke Akindele, Waje, and Shoday were in the UK for the promotional campaign of The Four: No One Fights Alone, and their coordinated outing delivered more than just good press. Funke Akindele Network and FilmOne Entertainment announced that the film will have its UK premiere on 29 November at ODEON Luxe Leicester Square, ahead of its worldwide cinema release on 11 December.
Funke and Waje both wore buba and iro sets cut from off-white textured cotton, but the floral appliqués told two completely different stories. Funke's look carried crimson-red roses with spiral stitching across the bodice and bell sleeves, yellow sunflowers and leafy green stems down the wrapper, a golden-yellow head wrap, layered gold necklaces, a broad cuff bracelet, and metallic red platform sandals. Waje went softer, with lavender roses along the neckline and sleeves, large green floral appliqués at the hem of her wrapper, a matching lavender-trimmed scarf, a turquoise-accented gold necklace, and multi-coloured platform heels. Same base, different bloom. That is the coordination sweet spot.
Shoday arrived with a single-breasted blazer covered in bold chevron embroidery in turquoise, yellow, red, and blue. He wore it over a beige mesh-knit top and cream wide-leg trousers, with stacked silver Cuban-link chains and dark dress shoes finishing the look. The chains gave the jacket space to be the main event, which it clearly was.
If The Four is dressing its promo campaign this well, the film itself has a lot to live up to come December.
