Egypt's financial services sector is undergoing a profound transformation. Driven by rapid digital adoption, regulatory reforms and a national push towards financial inclusion, the country's fintech ecosystem has evolved from a niche segment into one of the most dynamic areas of the economy.
While much of the attention has focused on digital payments and mobile wallets, a new generation of companies is addressing deeper structural gaps in the financial system. From enabling access to cross-border remittances to democratising savings and investment products, these businesses are helping millions of Egyptians participate more fully in the formal economy.
Two companies operating at different ends of the financial services spectrum illustrate this trend. Rimmit, one of Egypt's largest remittance providers, is focused on improving access to international money transfers and financial services. Meanwhile, Menthum is seeking to broaden access to savings and investment products through a digital-first platform designed for a new generation of investors. Both have Ismail Sarhank - co-founder of Menthum and deputy CEO of Rimmit - as a driving force.
Together, these companies offer a window into how financial inclusion in Egypt is evolving beyond basic banking services towards a more comprehensive ecosystem of financial opportunity.
