Nigeria's federal government and Enugu State came together this Thursday at the 48th Regular Meeting of the National Council on Agriculture and Food Security, hosted by Enugu, to firm up a shared direction on food security.
The two governments used the gathering to restate their common goals around agro-industrialisation and improving market access across the country. The meeting signals that both levels of government are on the same page when it comes to moving Nigerian agriculture beyond subsistence farming and toward something more structured and commercially viable.
With food prices still biting hard for many Nigerian households, the pressure is on for these policy alignments to translate into real change on the ground.
