The Kenya National Examinations Council has moved two KCSE examination centres out of Moyale Sub-County in Marsabit County, after clan clashes along the Kenya-Ethiopia border made it too dangerous for students to sit their exams as planned.
The Ministry of Education made the call after insecurity in the border area created conditions that could not guarantee the safety of candidates. Moyale, which straddles the Kenya-Ethiopia boundary, has long been a flashpoint for cross-border tensions, and this year's exam season has not been spared.
Details on exactly where the affected students have been relocated, and how many candidates are involved, have not yet been released. What happens next for those students is the question worth watching.
