D’Tigress set for 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup

The 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup is set to take place in Berlin, Germany, from September 4–13, 2026, with 16 national teams competing for the world title.

Nigeria’s D’Tigress are one of the teams to represent Africa at the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup, with the tournament scheduled to take place in Berlin, Germany. The competition will bring together 16 of the world’s best women’s basketball teams, with Nigeria looking to make another strong statement on the global stage.

D’Tigress have been drawn into Group B, alongside France, South Korea and Hungary. It is a challenging group, particularly because Nigeria already faced France and South Korea during the World Cup qualifying tournament earlier this year. Nigeria suffered an 93–86 defeat to France during the qualifiers, while South Korea also defeated D’Tigress 77–60.

The expanded 16-team World Cup also provides Nigeria with an opportunity to progress further. With the right performances in the group stage, D’Tigress can realistically target a place in the quarter-finals and potentially challenge for a historic finish.
