Chinelo Okparanta Announces Her Third Novel, This Impossible Life, Coming This November from Mariner Books
Chinelo Okparanta broke the news on Instagram, the way a friend might share something close to the chest: her third novel, This Impossible Life, is coming.
The book will be published by Mariner Books, an imprint of HarperCollins, on November 10, 2026. It marks the next chapter for the Nigerian-American writer, who built her reputation with the short story collection Happiness, Like Water and the novel Under the Udala Trees.
That is all we know for now, and somehow that feels right. With Okparanta, the wait has always been worth it.
