Cheekychizzy unveils 11-track LP 'W.OT.S'

For the past two years, Cheekychizzy has been creating the album while navigating different cities, rooms, relationships, responsibilities, successes, failures and versions of himself. Somewhere in that process, he realized that while he was making the album, the album was also making him. That realization became the philosophy behind W.O.T.S. (Word On The Streets).

Everybody has a street, and every street teaches you something. A street doesn't have to be a physical neighborhood. Nigeria is a street, Los Angeles is a street. The music industry is a street. Family is a street. Fatherhood is a street. Relationships are a street. Money is a street. Failure is a street. Success is a street. Faith is a street. Each one leaves you with something. So throughout the W.O.T.S. campaign, Cheekychizzy is asking people one question: “WHAT'S THE WORD ON YOUR STREET?”

Somebody's word may be survival. Another person's may be family, faith, discipline, freedom, grief, love or money. Cheekychizzy's word is: FIND OUT.

As he explains it, you can't fully discover yourself through theory. You have to live. Enter rooms. Take risks. Make mistakes. Correct yourself. Grow. Unbecome. Become again, and find out. One line captures the album particularly well: “The streets made a version of me. Now I'm finding out which parts of that version are actually me.” — Cheekychizzy
