CBN grants JP Morgan approval-in-principle to set up merchant bank

The Central Bank of Nigeria has given JP Morgan the green light, in principle, to establish a merchant bank on Nigerian soil. The new entity, to be called JP Morgan Merchant Bank Nigeria Limited, will focus on wholesale banking, capital markets and advisory services.

CBN Director of Corporate Communications and Investor Relations Michael Akuka confirmed the development in a statement released on Friday.
