Atiku Abubakar's Ask AA platform is doing something genuinely interesting: publishing tough questions from the public and putting up answers for all to see. That kind of openness is rare in Nigerian politics, and it deserves a look.
A Premium Times examination of 100 publicly available answers on the platform found that the critical questions are indeed going up, no apparent filtering of the hard stuff. That part holds up.
Where things get complicated is in the responses themselves. Some answers fall short of what was actually asked, leaving out specific records, financial figures, or concrete political commitments that questioners had requested.
The gap between publishing a question and fully answering it is a meaningful one. Transparency that stops short of the details people are asking for raises its own set of questions about what the platform is really designed to do.
