Akwa Ibom doctors celebrates colleague’s elevation to ANA fellowship

A doctor who writes novels is one thing. A doctor who gets inducted into the Association of Nigerian Authors fellowship is something worth celebrating, and his colleagues in Akwa Ibom are doing exactly that.

The man at the center of the celebration is Akpan, a physician and novelist who also served as former chairman of the state's primary healthcare board. Over the years, he has built a reputation that sits comfortably across two worlds, medical practice and literary advocacy, refusing to let either one dim the other.

His elevation to the ANA fellowship marks a formal recognition of that literary commitment, and the warmth pouring in from the medical community in Akwa Ibom says a lot about how his peers see the full picture of who he is. When doctors cheer for a novelist, you know the work has spoken clearly.
