Africa: WHO and Enhypen Join Efforts to Inspire Young Blood Donors Globally

Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization, flew to Seoul on 22 October to meet with K-pop group ENHYPEN in person. The visit was a direct acknowledgment of what the two parties had built together: a collaboration aimed at getting young people around the world to donate blood.

The meeting was held to celebrate the success of their joint work around World Blood Donor Day 2026, and to formally recognize ENHYPEN's role in driving that message to a global youth audience. K-pop's reach across continents makes a partnership like this unusually well-positioned to move young people from awareness to action.

Blood donation remains a quiet but urgent public health need, and campaigns that speak directly to younger generations can make a real difference in supply. Whether this collaboration translates into measurable increases in donations among first-time donors is the question worth watching.
