Adedibu Biopic: Producer petitions IGP over alleged death threats, cyberbullying as family demands film’s removal

The producer of a biopic about the late Nigerian political figure Adedibu has taken his concerns straight to the Inspector General of Police, filing a petition over what he describes as death threats and cyberbullying targeted at him following the film's release.

At the center of the dispute is Mr Oloketuyi, who says the pressure campaign against him has escalated to a point where he felt law enforcement had to step in. The family of the subject of the film has pushed back hard, giving him a 72-hour ultimatum to pull the film from YouTube and provide a full account of its earnings on the platform dating back to 3 October.

The standoff raises real questions about who controls the story of a public figure once he is gone, and whether families can compel a filmmaker to silence a work that is already in public circulation. Watch this space.
