Ogun State Governor Abiodun has announced plans to upgrade the state's Cooperative College, pointing to over one billion naira already disbursed in small business loans as proof that the cooperative sector is working for everyday people.
The governor framed the upgrade as a push to build stronger cooperative institutions and train more skilled professionals to run them. The goal, he says, is to make sure that grassroots entrepreneurs have real, sustained access to the financing they need to grow.
With over a billion naira already moving through cooperative channels to small businesses, the question now is whether upgrading the college can produce enough trained hands to keep that momentum going.
