Rabiu Kwankwaso is not mincing words ahead of 2027. The Nigeria Democratic Congress vice-presidential candidate says the alliance forming between President Tinubu and the nation's governors is a sign of weakness, not strength.
In his view, the governors and the president are closing ranks precisely because they do not trust their own chances of winning re-election independently. For Kwankwaso, political consolidation at the top does not equal popular support at the grassroots.
He is confident that when election day arrives, the APC will come face to face with what he describes as very serious mistakes. Whether voters agree with that reading of the political mood is the question every party is quietly trying to answer right now.
