On 11 October 2025, in Lagos, Anita Natacha Akide, better known as Tacha, stood surrounded by brushes, powders, and palettes for 24 straight hours. By the time the clock ran out, she had completed 144 full makeovers and walked away with not one but two Guinness World Record titles.
The first record came at the eight-hour mark, with 82 completed transformations. She then kept going, finishing 144 makeovers in 24 hours and surpassing the previous record by more than 30 people. Every single look included foundation, concealer, blush, two eyeshadows, mascara, lip liner and gloss, finishing powder, and shaped eyebrows. No shortcuts, no skipped steps.
When the confirmation came through, Tacha screamed, cried, and pulled her sister and assistants into a hug. She told Guinness World Records that the online response made it feel like every person who had ever believed in her was standing right there in the room.
That belief was hard won. Growing up, Tacha's mother, a devoted church worker, would throw away her lip glosses, eyeliners, and mascaras. Tacha would save up and buy them again. That quiet, stubborn love for colour and beauty followed her all the way to this record.
She says the achievement was born from resilience and the courage to stand out, and she wants it to send a clear message: Nigerian women, African women, can achieve anything they set their minds to. Creativity is powerful, and global recognition is theirs to claim.
